Announcing IOC 2024-2025 season
We are thrilled to introduce IOC’s next season of "Storytelling and Discoveries"
In November 2024 we will present The Stone Guest by 19th century Russian composer A. Dargomyzhsky. The story is very similar to Don Giovanni by Mozart. It is based on a Pushkin short play and has some interesting plot twists. Donna Anna is not the daughter, but the wife of Il Commendatore? And is in love with Don Giovanni? We believe this will be the West Coast premiere of this fabulous opera! It will be performed concert-style with piano accompaniment.
Then Late Winter / Early Spring 2025 will bring Daphne by R. Strauss, a beautiful and lesser-known opera by this German master. It is loosely based on Greek mythology and tells the story of a girl deeply connected with nature, and also about passionate humans and competitive but remorseful gods!
Finally, the Summer of 2025 will bring Anna Bolena by Donizetti. This is one of the acclaimed masterpieces of Bell canto, and who can resist the story of Ann Boleyn? Think The Tudors, The Other Boleyn Girl, or Anne of The Thousand Days, and many other fabulous movies. The lush and dramatic music by Donizetti will make the story even more captivating! This is definitely going to be the event not to be missed!
